Since 2015, WISE has worked to expand the peer workforce in California's Public Mental Health System by training peer support professionals, offering employment assistance, and providing support to employers of peer support professionals.
WISE program provides technical assistance and support to employers who currently, or are planning to, employ Peer Support workers as part of their behavioral health workforce. WISE staff are available to provide training and one-on-one technical assistance to employers.
Employers: email wise@calvoices.org for assistance.
WISE also provides Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training (MPSSCT) to peers in California through its WISE U program. The training is based on California's 17 Core Competencies for Peer Support Specialists and is rooted in recovery. Training participants also receive job coaching, placement assistance, and ongoing employment support for up to six months following training completion.
