
Certified Peer Support Specialist Leadership Liaison Program
Welcome to the Cal Voices' Certified Peer Support Specialist Leadership Liaison Program (CPS-LLP). We provide programs to build workplace supports for Peers working in Sacramento County's Behavioral Health System (BHS). Our activities help create and sustain a more psychologically healthy, recovery-oriented, and peer-friendly work environment. This page provides information about our upcoming CE trainings for Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists (CMPSS) and Peer employers in Sacramento County. These trainings are free and open to anyone living or working in Sacramento County.

Upcoming Training Courses
Peer Trainings
Peer trainings provide continuing education credit (CE) for CMPSS workers in Sacramento County to assist them with meeting their CE requirements for recertification. These courses are also open to employers. Participants are provided with a Certification of Completion at the end of each training.
Crisis Management
February 19, 2026 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
This training equips peer support specialists with a comprehensive understanding of recognizing mental health crises, preventing them, and providing support during such crises. Participants will gain knowledge of warning signs, de-escalation techniques, and effective ways to assist others in need. Crisis plan templates are provided.
Advanced Topics in Peer Support
March 19, 2026 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
This interactive training involves peers in a series of scenarios and discussions focused on providing individualized care, offering peer support when they lack the same lived experience, and managing triggers. Participants will view a scenario for each topic and engage in collaborative learning to provide a better understanding.
Peer Employer Trainings
Peer Employer trainings provide valuable information to Peer Employers in Sacramento County about developing, expanding, and retaining a diverse peer workforce. These courses are also open to CMPSS workers. Continuing Education (CE) credits are available for each training. Participants receive a Certification of Completion at the end of each training.
Onboarding and Integrating Peers

Onboarding new employees remains a challenge for many organizations. This training program aims to equip supervisors, managers, and organizational leaders with valuable insights into best practices for onboarding and developing Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists. The training covers a range of topics, including fundamental onboarding processes, peer integration strategies, and effective methods for successfully onboarding peer support specialists.
Maintaining Fidelity to the Peer Support Evidence Base

Peer support specialists working in traditional behavioral health settings may encounter role drift and scope creep, leading to negative consequences for both themselves and their clients. Understanding the significance of fidelity and how to adhere to the peer support evidence base is crucial in addressing these challenges.

The Certified Peer Support Specialist Leadership Liaison Program is pleased to announce that our previous live courses are now available online in LearnWorlds. Peers and employers in Sacramento County can register for free. All courses are self-paced and accessible 24/7. This option is exclusively available to individuals working as a CMPSS or those employing CMPSS workers in Sacramento County.
